Mission

Mission Statement:

The general mission of the Downtown Development Authority is to carry out, as appropriate, a revised inventory and analysis of the downtown's current characteristics and explore future visions, goals, marketing strategies, needs, etc., culminating in the next generation of a Downtown Master Plan which will carry Perry into the new century.

What is the DDA?

The Perry Downtown Development Authority (DDA) is a quasi-governmental entity affiliated with the City of Perry.  Goals of the DDA are directed toward planning and management of development and improvement activities, marketing and promotion of the downtown business district, business recruitment and retention activities, capital improvements, and administrative costs.

What are the benefits of being located with the DDA District?

The Perry DDA advocates for downtown, and therefore, can serve as a valuable resource for district business. The DDA supports downtown businesses in terms of:

*Acting as a liaison with City, County and State officials on behalf of downtown

*Assisting property owners with improvement projects

*Funding (entirely or partially) downtown beautification programs (planters, public streetscape improvements, redevelopment of public spaces, etc.)

*Actively recruiting businesses that complement the business mix and generate pedestrian traffic

*Publishing downtown marketing materials

*Coordinating and supporting downtown special events to attract people downtown

*Addressing downtown challenges and implementing short-term solutions while considering long-term infrastructure improvements

Who is the DDA?

The Perry DDA is comprised of a volunteer Board of Directors appointed by the Perry City Council and committed to the improvement and revitalization of downtown Perry.   The Board establishes the long term vision and serves to accomplish those defined objectives.
